Weekend In Brooklyn Roundup

The wife, pixie, and I spent last weekend in Brooklyn. Our visit was to see my first cousin and his wife before they become parents, to meet their labradoodle Millie, and to EAT.

This is cousin Millie. It was nice to hang out with a dog that shows affection. dr jones hates me.

The pixie wanted to be crated. No complaints on this end.
 Off to Defonte's
There was a certain method to ordering and lingo which we had no idea about. Yet we got our food. A half sandwich.
To me it was chaos, to everyone else it was organized.

Out of order, there is a tv show being filmed this week on Nate's street.
So this is 1/4 of the sandwich. Bacon, breaded chicken, lettuce, cheese, etc. Nom Nom Nom.
 Sunflower near PS 321.
 Getting the pixie some froyo.
 She loved the pigeons.
 Millie watching herself on tv.
After we made a big Indian dinner we retired to the patio for some Buffalo Trace bourbon and a cigarillo.
Next morning was Prospect Park. This place is huge. I never made it to the pond with carp. Dozens of dogs off the leash.
 Metal detectors.
Then off to Costco where they had special escalators for shopping carts. The carts didn't roll down which was strange. I mean think about gravity and what not.
Then off to the butcher shop for 15lbs ground beef and some pepadews.

 Jabon Iberico.
 Tree lined streets.
I later stopped at the Chip Shop.I've known about this place for years. And I was hungry so I wanted to get my fry on. I only had $10 so I got a Scotch egg and fries.

My order of fries was an entire basket. But where was the fried egg?
I was extremely disappointing that it was not made fresh. I need to send them an e-mail. It was cold and rather flavorless. Pixie ate the cherry tomatoes.
That's a lot of fried food.
Literally a shoe box of fries. I ate some and was full. I later re-heated them for the burgers.
The wife stopped in here for pickles. They had olive oil and balsamic in bulk.
Then off to find limeade concentrate for beergaritas. I didn't find any but I found Xante spirit. Had to get Nate a bottle.

Then after burgers and sides and company we had Xante and cigarillos on the patio.
Early Sunday had us at the park. How about some fries with that shake? This beagle (?) was beyond morbidly obese and really unfair to the dog.
 Off to breakfast. Bagels.

Egg salad, lettuce, red onion on everything bagel.
The drive home took 7.5 hours. We missed my nephew's bday party. After an hour of bumper to bumper for NO REASON we start moving again at normal speed and are slowed down by this trike on fire. He drove between all the cars during the backup. Karma?
Then we get to Md. There is a car fire about a mile ahead. All lanes blocked. This dbag and others decided they need to drive on the shoulder to get ahead of the traffic. They can't get through as no cars are letting them in as there is no room. Then the first responders arrive and these dbags are blocking the shoulder and they and Hazmat can't get by.
About 40 min later we pass the burnt out hull of a car.
All in all it was a good weekend. I bumped into a SLHS alum near Nate's house who was in town from San Fran! Its a small world. We ate, we laughed, we had a few cocktails. Now back to fishing!
